How Viewing Bookings Work
Viewing bookings are arranged for lots that are open for inspection at a yard, viewing point, or approved seller location. Some lots are kept at our Germiston Viewing Yard, while others are available at Johannesburg East, Pretoria, Durban, Cape Town, Bloemfontein, Isando, or Alberton depending on the sale and the asset type.
To avoid delays, book before you travel. Each viewing slot is set so buyers can move through the lots in an orderly way and get enough time to inspect the equipment. In busy periods, especially before month end, slots can fill quickly so it helps to book early.
- Check the lot listing first for the viewing location
- Book only the slots shown as open for that sale
- Bring your own safety gear if required on site
- Allow extra time for traffic and site sign-in
Steps To Book Your Slot
Use the enquiry form on our contact page to request a viewing. Please include the lot number, the location you want to visit, your preferred date and time, and the name of the person attending. If you are viewing on behalf of a company, add the company name and the person who will make the bidding decision.
Once we receive the request, the team checks the availability of the lot and confirms the slot. For some seller sites, access is limited by factory hours, shift changes or health and safety rules, so the time may need to be adjusted. We will let you know what is possible before you arrive.
- Send one request per lot or per group of lots at the same site
- Wait for confirmation before making travel plans
- Arrive on time to keep the viewing flow moving
- Tell us if you need to inspect heavy plant or multiple units
What You Can Inspect On Site
Viewing is your chance to check the visible condition of the lot and confirm whether it suits your work. Buyers often look at wear on motors, frames, tyres, hydraulics, panels, switches, cables and general upkeep. On equipment that has been standing idle, it is wise to check for dust build-up, corrosion and signs of moisture exposure, especially near coastal sites where humidity can affect metal parts.
We encourage practical questions during the visit. Ask about the lot description, what accessories are included, and whether items are sold as seen or with any listed notes. Viewings do not replace your own judgement, so bring someone who understands the machine if you can. That second set of eyes can save you from a poor bid.
- Inspect the body, moving parts and visible controls
- Check serial plates and asset markings where accessible
- Confirm power requirements and site fit for your operation
- Note any missing parts before you bid
Rules For Yard And Seller Site Access
All visitors must follow site safety instructions, sign in where required, and stay with the group or host while on the premises. Some sites require closed shoes, hi-vis clothing, or protective eyewear. If a seller site has forklift traffic, loading bays or live production areas, keep clear of marked zones and follow the supervisor’s directions.
Germiston and the surrounding industrial areas can be busy, especially early morning and late afternoon. Plan for parking, gate checks and load-shedding related delays if a site is operating on backup power. If a municipal or private site rule changes the viewing time, we will update the booking and advise you straight away.
- Bring ID or company identification if requested
- Do not switch on equipment unless you are told it is permitted
- Keep children and unregistered visitors off site
- Respect no-photo areas where the seller restricts images
If You Need A New Time Or Need To Cancel
If you cannot make the appointment, let us know as soon as possible so the slot can be opened for another buyer. This is especially important for popular lots where several interested parties may be waiting. Late changes make yard planning harder and can affect access to locked stores or high value assets.
When rescheduling, send the same lot number and location again so we can match the request quickly. If your team changes, tell us who will attend. That helps us keep the visitor list accurate and prevents confusion at the gate. A quick update is better than arriving and finding the lot has moved or the supervisor is on another site.
- Send your cancellation through the enquiry form on the contact page
- Ask for a new time if the first slot no longer works
- Keep the lot number in your message for faster handling
- Check your confirmation before leaving for the site
Helpful Tips Before You Travel
For viewings in Johannesburg, Pretoria, Durban, Cape Town or Bloemfontein, plan around traffic and weather. Rain can affect outdoor inspections, and winter mornings can be cold in Gauteng, while coastal sites may feel damp and slippery. If you are coming from a distance, it can help to group several lots at one location instead of making separate trips.
Bring a notebook, a torch for darker corners, and a phone charger if you are collecting photos or notes during the visit. If the lot is large, ask in advance whether you need extra time. A careful inspection now can save a costly mistake later, and it gives you a better idea of what the machine is really worth.
- Arrive early if you are travelling from another town
- Use the lot number as your reference for every question
- Keep your bidding budget in mind while you inspect
- Make notes on condition, missing items and transport needs
