A working day in online auctions
Our team supports sellers and buyers across Johannesburg, Pretoria, Durban, Cape Town and Bloemfontein from our base in Germiston, Gauteng. The work is hands on and changes from one day to the next, from checking asset details and photos to helping with viewings, auction timelines and payment clearance.
People who do well here are steady under pressure, work well with details, and understand that machinery sales often involve tight schedules, load-shedding, site access rules and collection planning. On some days you will be speaking with a factory manager in Alrode, on others a buyer in Durban is asking about collection timing and forklift access, so clear communication matters.
Roles we typically hire for
We recruit for operational, buyer-facing and admin support roles as the business grows. These roles often sit close to the auction process and may involve working with assets on site, online listings and collection arrangements.
- Auction operations and lot administration
- Asset valuation and condition reporting
- Buyer support and after-auction coordination
- Seller onboarding and account support
- Photography, cataloguing and listing preparation
- Viewing yard supervision and site coordination
- Marketing and content support
What we look for in candidates
We value people who can follow process, keep records in order and deal with customers in a calm professional way. Experience in machinery, logistics, plant hire, industrial sales, finance or administration is useful, but strong judgement and reliability count a lot too.
- Good written and spoken English
- Comfort with spreadsheets and online systems
- Attention to serial numbers, condition notes and lot details
- Ability to work with site teams and visiting buyers
- Own transport can help, especially for viewing locations and off site work
How to apply through our contact page
If you would like to work with us, send your CV through the enquiry form on our contact page and tell us which type of role suits your experience. You can also mention whether you are looking for office based work, yard support, auction admin or a buyer and seller support position.
Please include your location, current availability and a short note on relevant experience. If you have worked with industrial equipment, surplus stock or auction processes before, that helps us place your CV with the right person. We review applications as they come in so it is worth keeping your details current.
Work with BidThis in South Africa
Our work connects real businesses to practical outcomes. A seller may need to clear a warehouse in Germiston before the lease ends, while a buyer may be looking for affordable equipment to keep a workshop running in Polokwane or Paarl, so the job has real pace and purpose.
Team members often get exposure to asset appraisals, viewings, timed online auctions and collection coordination, which means you learn how the whole process fits together. It is busy work, but there is satisfaction in seeing a lot move from listing to sale to collection without delays.
Our team culture and values
We aim to keep things straightforward, fair and organised. The best fit for our team is someone who takes ownership, speaks plainly and handles customers with respect, even when the timing is tight or the asset details need another check.
- Accuracy over guesswork
- Respect for sellers, buyers and site staff
- Clear updates and no waffle
- Practical problem solving
- Accountability from first contact to final handover
If that sounds like you, we would like to review your CV. We do not publish a fixed vacancy list here, so the best route is to apply directly through the enquiry form on the contact page.
